Empowerment of women through SHGs

Empowerment of women through SHGs

C.S. Rama Lakshmi begins her presentation whit this reflection:

Why talk about women?

Listen audio

Her answer is easy but  though: Globally, for each  two (2) men educated there is one (1) woman educated. That is a fact in the hole world on  average.

So, if if still anyoe whith doubts about it, and we saw a lot of impressed, others so no convinced faces, even in  femenine participants, there is a lot of literature in the net to reach out.

And came other example that maybe could be misunderstood:

What hapens if a girl ihas born and not a boy?

because cultural and social behaviors can vary in each country, but another issue comes to the auditorium. There is a lot of work to do , among all of us, because this reallity stills invisible, naturalized. Thatś the reason for all the complains, disagrees and other expressions that we heard from some women in the tea breack. But that situation comes and comes again in every  space where I have been, talking about women empowerment. That ‘s another fact.

We are living in changin societies but out societies still have sophisticated or crude forms of exercise gender violence. Some of them are almost invisible and we could believe that we are living in a really high performanced society, and maybe we are well blindness by mechanisms that we can’t imagine.

The talk continue,

What do the rural women need?

Most women need livehood and the way to do that is prodcuctivity. But,

How we are going to make women more productive?

We need to provide oportunities for women to:

  • Stay together
  • To stay connected with technologies
  • Acces to loans
  • Acces to markets

That’s what Pedarikam Pai Gelupu strategy aims to do.

40% – 50% of Indians are not internet users. 85% so the digital strategies must be mixed, creative and have many challenges.

The strategy in few words make possible that the women conform cooperatives, groups of women that divided in different roles begin a trainning proccess based on practice, go for the farmers, producers of food and buy them mainly rice. Then the women take this product to the Krushe mart, a place hosted by governmetn where people below poverty line can buy one kilo of rice for one (1) rupie Rs. $1. That ś US$ 0.66 cents.

That’s KRUSHE:
